the hair care journeys that started it all:

january 2019
For years, Stephanie choose to bury her natural hair under hair extensions instead of caring for it. Things were easier that way but her hair did suffer for it. While her natural hair was technically longer, it wasn’t healthy.

Leaving hair extensions in for months on end without doing anything to her natural hair led to a ton of hair loss and thinning. Finding it better to hold on to the “length” she had and ignoring the underlying problems made the situation worse.

february 2021
A visit to the dermatologist and an official diagnosis of central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia (CCCA) had Stephanie officially doing her first big chop. This fresh start gave her a chance to learn more about her natural hair and how to better care for it.

Newly dedicated to performing hair care tasks more regularly, Stephanie solicited the support of her professional stylist team at Stylebox Salon, researched the best methods to grow hair and started building a solution to help others get optimal hair results.

And after keeping up with a regular hair care routine of moisturizing, conditioning and hair steaming, Stephanie found that her hair had grown thicker & fuller than it had ever grown before. And just like that, SOTRO officially had its first proven success story!

Alicia’s hair would grow but she kept having to cut off several inches at a time due to dryness, damage, and her natural texture barely existing when dry without twist or braid outs. Wash day was taking here 3-6 hours from shower to dry.

Alicia was introduced to hair steaming by her salon and noticed her hair was less dry.

Alicia started being more consistent in steaming and weekly wash day. She noticed better length retention, less damage, and her overall hair texture looking awesome!

With noticeably longer and fuller hair, Alicia was able to confidently do wash & go’s. Her hair became easier to manage and detangle. Less hair was being cut during her regular trim appointments and her hair wasn’t drying out between washes.

Alicia’s hair is the longest & healthiest it’s every been and still growing, with consistent steaming and wash days that are down to 1-2 hours from start to finish.
