Heading to bed without a bonnet?

HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENING TO YOUR HAIR WHEN YOU DO THIS

Do you toss and turn when you sleep? enjoying those high thread count cotton sheets? sleep on your back and not your stomach? While these can often mean a better night’s rest, what they can also mean is that you’ll wake up with dryer, frizzer and more tangled hair. Tossing and turning leads to more tangling, which, in turn, makes your hair more prone to breakage. And cotton is excellent at absorbing moisture - especially from your hair. Less moisture equals more frizz. Mix these all up and voila - you’ve almost guaranteed that you’ll be waking up to a bad hair day.

HERE’S WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING

You’ll need to protect your hair from these elements - and the best way to do so is by wearing a satin or silk-lined bonnet to sleep. Not only does a bonnet prevent all the things we just mentioned, but it’s also great at protecting your hair style so that you save time in the morning and do less when you wake up.

Additionally, without a bonnet, all of the hair products already in your hair (like hair serums, oils and leave-in conditioners) can easily transfer from your hair and onto your pillow. Wear a bonnet and keep those products working for your hair and not wasted.

AND IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE TIME OR MOTIVATION TO DO THE RIGHT THING RIGHT NOW, HERE’S A GOOD ENOUGH WORK AROUND:

we get it - a bonnet is not necessarily the sexiest look. And remembering to put it on every night can be a tall order. if you can fit your bed with satin or silk sheets and pillowcases, then you can minimize the likelihood that your hair will tangle or feel dry. But that won’t solve the hair product loss problem. So, if all else fails, keep a regular deep conditioning treatment routine that includes steaming strengthening masks and conditioners into your hair. Try to steam your hair once a week to keep your hair in the best state.
